Hi, I’m Dave Jones — the heart behind Empire West Photo.
Photography has always been more than a profession for me — it’s how I connect people to the moments that matter most. I believe in creating images that feel as genuine and timeless as the memories they hold.
Whether it’s a playful family session, a once-in-a-lifetime milestone, or the quiet in-between moments that make life beautiful, I approach every shoot with care, creativity, and a touch of adventure. My goal is simple: to give you photographs that don’t just look amazing, but feel like you — authentic, joyful, and full of life.

Music photography is another passion of mine and has been a big part of my life for over a decade. As a lifelong music fan, there’s nothing better than combining my love of photography with the energy and emotion of live music.
I was fortunate early on when my work caught the attention of the band New Politics from Copenhagen, Denmark, and later Fender — an opportunity that opened countless doors in the world of music photography.
Since then, I’ve had the chance to capture incredible artists including Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Panic! at the Disco, Weezer, Fun, Neon Trees, and many more.
On the other side of the music world, I also loved serving as the Eastman School of Music’s “Eastman Presents” Concert Series photographer, where I photographed legendary performers such as Béla Fleck, Wynton Marsalis, Renée Fleming, and Norm Lewis. Every show, every note, every moment tells a story — and my goal is to capture it in a way that makes you feel like you were there.

What can I say about craft beer photography? It’s awesome!
I’ve always been a fan of craft beer, and in 2010 I attended the Great American Beer Festival for the first time. During that trip, I stopped by The Mayor of Old Town, a craft beer bar in Fort Collins, CO, and captured some photos of my experience. Those images were picked up and published by BeerAdvocate magazine, opening an incredible opportunity to combine two of my passions: craft beer and photography.
Once I joined the BeerAdvocate team, I began spending time photographing in local breweries, learning firsthand from head brewers about the craft, the people, and the stories behind the beers. Inspired by the creativity and dedication in the industry, I even started homebrewing myself — and I’ve made several beers I’m proud to say are seriously tasty!
For me, craft beer photography isn’t just about capturing a pint — it’s about telling the story behind every pour, every brewery, and every person who makes this craft so special.
