Field Trip : Local History

Since the winter weather decided to pay us an unwelcome visit this weekend, we felt like it was the perfect opportunity to head over to the International Museum of Photography and Film. Plus, there was a photography exhibit by Roger Ballen that we wanted to check out. His photographs are like nothing you have ever seen before. Whether you like his style or not, you can’t deny that he pushes the boundaries in a way that goes beyond the photographic realm of reality. My review: shocking, intriguing, and refreshing all at the same time.

While we were there we also checked out the other exhibitions, which are all amazing. They also have a good portion of the main house open where you can walk through and see a huge and wonderful collection of George Eastman’s personal estate. The antiques on display are gorgeous! Here are a few photos from our trip.

This elephant head is an exact replica of the one Eastman brought home from his African Safari. It freaked me out a bit.

This trip definitely made us want to add more vintage cameras to our collection, but more importantly it gave us a deeper appreciation for our local history. Weekend WIN!
